Off to Vegas! | WPPI 2010

My flight leaves in less than 6 hours.  It’s past midnight, and I just finished packing for 4 day/3 night trip to Vegas to participate in WPPI 2010, an annual convention held by Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.  I’ve got my moleskine and pens for lecture notes, strobist gear for a potential night shoot in the desert (fingers crossed!), a copy of Seth Godin’s Linchpin, and my herringbone jacket and tie for Airhorns + Lasers.  I’m good to go!

This is my first year attending WPPI at the MGM Grand, and I’m thrilled to see friends and peers from all over the world, and make to some new connections.  I’ve already made a few, including my two formidable and absurdly talented Texan roommates Jeremy Gilliam and Brad Martens.

(Check ‘em out.  Really.)

Now what’s a blog post without a few photos?  Below are some faves from a recent bonfire with friends at Golden Gardens in Seattle.  Til next Thursday, I bid you adieu!  (I’m leaving my MacBook Pro at home — *tear* — so follow me on twitter for photos and updates from the front line!)

Jeanine Standard - Romin you know am a fan. Well, clearly. I’ve only been a purveyor of your astonishingly gorgeous works of craftsmanship for the last, I dunno, half decade (I must remind you of our very own impromptu photo sesh with Ouja, myself, and the debonair little Star back when you were still “amateur”- oh the fun!) But really, the majesty of life in all its splendor and haunting beauty is captured in such poignancy and astounding delicacy through your camera lens- you somehow preserve the finest moments in our lives with an almost clairvoyant acuteness. You can be sure that I will continue to indulge in generous quantities as I know that you, too, will continue to exquisitely produce, create and render in form the wondrous things that encapsulate our all too transient earthly journey. Cheers, Jeanine
