WPPI 2010 Las Vegas | #theresnoplacelikehome

Caught up in the excitement, I bought a ticket to Las Vegas before I realized that I’d be missing my son’s second birthday on March 8. I sat uncomfortably on the fence about whether or not to go for almost two months, but my wife and I both new how important it was for me to connect face-to-face with many of the contacts that I had made over the past few years. This was my first trip to the WPPI convention, and it was nothing short of a life-changing experience. I made so many close friends in the blurred whirlwind that was my trip. Below, you’ll find some of the friends, colleagues and mentors that I had the pleasure and honor of getting to know. These are my people, and I love them dearly.

I am so grateful for my expecting wife, Jenny, for mustering the courage to send me away on a four-day trip while struggling with morning (all-day) sickness; and for Justin, who seems to have grown into a little man while I was away. I love, I love, I love you.

My flight leaves in less than 6 hours. It’s past midnight, and I just finished packing for 4 day/3 night trip to Vegas to participate in WPPI 2010, an annual convention held by Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. I’m good to go!

Though I haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting Sharlane face to face, we wanted to go because we are deeply committed to supporting other photographers, especially when they are in need.

seattle wedding photographer | Mystic 5 | Wedding photographers have fun too

At the encouragement of an old colleague, Val, and my wife, Jenny, I made the last minute decision to fly to the East Coast last week to attend Walter van Dusen’s Mystic 5 Workshop. I had had an amazing experience at last year’s workshop, but I didn’t know if I was up for flying out New Year’s Day on a red eye to make the workshop. I am so grateful that my wife encouraged me to go (I think her words were, “I’d rather have you out of the house for a week than be around here kicking yourself for not going.” I love her.)…
